Symbolism

The ocean contains many mysteries that have yet to be solved by mankind.  These mysteries include the unexplored depths that take up seventy percent of Earth's surface.  Humans dwell on the other thirty percent where everything is clear.  Instead of putting funds into exploring the depths of the ocean they cho0se to explore space in search of another home or other life forms.  Constantly worried about how to preserve their futures instead of enjoying their own lives.

Humanity's need to preserve their children's futures is a sign of the selflessness that humans are capable of.  Their interest in other life in space represents the curiosity of most individuals.  The fact that they don't prioritize the exploration of the planet that they live on shows ignorance and carelessness.  They assume that they know everything they need to for the moment about the ocean.  Putting more funds into the exploration of space instead of the ocean shows their innocence, they hope the life in space isn't as hostile as they are.

How to make Rice Krispies

To make rice Krispies you'll want the cereal brand of Rice Krispies, marsh mellows,  and butter.  After getting your needed materials, melt the butter in a large saucepan.  Once the butter is done melting add the marshmallows and stir them until they have completely melted together.  Now that you've melted the butter and marshmallows all that's left is to add the Kellogs Rice Krispies to the mixture and stir till everything has been thoroughly mixed.  Make sure before putting the Krispies on the pan to cover the pan with wax paper.

The next step in the process is to smooth out the treats on the pan with a buttered spatula.  After putting them on the pan let them sit and cool before cutting them into squares.  After about two nights even in an airtight container, they start to go bad so make sure to serve them quickly.  If you want to freeze them you can, but from what I've noticed it won't make a difference in their expiration date.  These sweets are easy to make and are something that most people find very tasty.

Free Post

Whenever I think of Thanksgiving I remember when I was too young to have a choice in where I went.  But at the age of elleven I was given the choice to go where I wanted during the holidays.  So I would choose to stay at home because I don't like alot of noise amongst other things.  Unfourtunetly I can't remember too much about my previous thanksgivings. Sometimes mom would bring me home large plates of leftovers, sometimes small things but she'd always bring leftovers.

On Thanksgivings I'm thankful for my freedom and the well being of everyone I know.  Sometimes I would go to the library to check out books or movies to keep myself entertained.  Most of the time I'd read fictional books because of the dilemnas that they held.  If I didn't check out anything from the library I'd sleep to pass the time.  My favorite holidays were the ones I spent in solitude.

Lord of the Flies Critical Scene

A critical scene in The Lord of the Flies was the shattering of the conch and Piggy's death. "The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee, the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist,"  Before this accident Ralph was dependent on piggy's above average intellligence.  Unfourtunelty the rock had killed Piggy and destroyed the conch and setting a chain of events in motion.  The events that followed included a bounty on Ralph's head, the capture of Sam'neric, and the island catching fire.

The shattering of the conch was more than just the loss of communication.  "-,,,the conch exploded into athousand white fragments and ceased to exist."  I believe the conch represented the boys' humanity, mercy, and restraints.   With Piggy's death the boys' lost sound reasoning, and advanced knowledge placing them basically back into the dark ages.  These losses are what led to the hunt for Ralph becoming official.  The conch held their respect almost like adult superioreity but, in its abscence there's nothing to keep the boys in check.

Setting High Goals or Realistic Goals

Do you set your goals according to what you to want to achieve or according to what you think you are capable of achieving?  The two are often indistinguishable for some people, limiting themselves to what they think they can accomplish.  I, unfortunately, am one of the people who limit themselves according to what has happened in the past.  Most of the superiors don't believe this to be an effective way of setting goals.  I'm not entirely sure if I agree with them on that matter.

Setting what I believe to be a realistic goal is a way of saving myself and those around me the disappointment of my failure.  This method may be seen as not putting forth the effort, which varies in some cases.  Every now and then I hear someone mention how they didn't reach their desired goal but show almost complete indifference.  From what I can tell these people set goals to keep themselves in the right set of mind.  If a goal is completed that's great, if not they'll try harder next time and keep on trying till they're able to set a higher goal.

Lord of the Flies Response

-"Sit down all of you.  They raided us for fire.  They're having fun.  But the-"  Ralph was puzzled by the shutter that flickered in his brain.  There was something that he wanted to say; then the shutter had come down.  "But the-"  They were regarding him gravely, not yet troubled by any doubts about his sufficiency.  Ralph pushed the idiot hair out of his eyes and looked at Piggy.  "But the...oh...the fire!  Of course, the "Fire!"-

In this short excerpt from Lord of the Flies, the civilized group of boys was raided by the savage group of boys for fire.  Upon securing the fire the savage group of boys offered the civilized group an invitation to a feast.  Ralph, the leader of the civilized, tries to keep order among his group and discourage attendance at the feast.  Keeping the fire burning has been a needed task for all the boys on the island in order to get rescued, but only the civilized try to keep it smoking.  The savage group of boys only cares about having fun and hunting pigs, which neither activity would lead to rescue.

All the boys have been on the island for a couple of  weeks surviving off fruits and the first pig of two that the savages caught.  Ralph, a victim of the passing time is starting to lose sight of his main goal; getting rescued.  On a daily basis, he's constantly snapping at the other boys reminding them of the fire's importance.  The civilized boys became expectant of being reprimanded by Ralph whenever they forgot about the fire.  Just like the young boy Percival, Ralph is losing his memories of the real civilized world.
